JORHAT, Oct 3 - Golaghat police has arrested a man named Ijazul Ali of Moinapara area of the district on charges of murdering a woman, Rashmi Dutta of Furkating in Golaghat, who was the wife of a friend of Ali.
Ali was arrested on Tuesday. A police source said Rashmi�s body was buried in a paddy field under Furkating Police Station and was recovered on Tuesday.
The source said the husband of Rashmi had lodged a police complaint stating that his wife was missing since September 24. During investigation, police found that Ali too was not in his house from the same date after which police launched a search for him and apprehended him on Monday from a village on the outskirts of the town.
Ali reportedly confessed to the police about Rashmi meeting him on September 24 after which he strangled her to death following a quarrel over some matter and buried her body in the paddy field, the source said.
