ITANAGAR, March 11 - The West Siang Police have arrested the main accused in the recent murder of a policeman on the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court premises at Aalo, the headquarters of West Siang district. The police also recovered the firearm allegedly used by the accused in committing the heinous crime.

With the arrest of Nai Tali, a resident of Mori village in neighbouring Siang district, the West Siang Police have claimed to have solved the muder case of Tapop Yajo, a jawan of the 5th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn).

Yajo was shot dead on March 3 while he was on duty on the Aalo CJM court premises. As per the statement given by Tali, he committed the murder to postpone his trial at the CJM court, fearing conviction in five cases of theft.

Apart from the murder case, the alleged accused has also admitted to have committed the previous acts of arson on the CJM court premises, West Siang SP Jumar Basar said.
