GUWAHATI, Sept 1 - The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway on Monday apprehended a tout who was involved in illegal selling of railway tickets.
RPF�s Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) inspector along with other officials of CIB and RPF, Guwahati with the help of local police conducted a raid in a shop named M/s PM Communication and Service located at Odalbakra here and recovered 21 railway e-tickets generated using user IDs of different persons on different dates and different trains. The total value of the recovered e-tickets was Rs 33,718.
The shop�s owner Mrinal Hazra failed to produce any IRCTC authorisation certificate and he also confessed generating the recovered railway e-tickets illegally for his benefit.
The recovered e-tickets along with other relevant items have been seized and the owner of the shop has been taken into custody. A case has also been registered in this connection.
Moreover, RPF on Sunday apprehended a person Vicky Patel from Dibrugarh for illegally procuring and selling of railway e-tickets by using personal user IDs. RPF recovered a total of 48 such railway e-tickets worth Rs 1,09,132 from his shop M/s Patel and Sons in Dibrugarh.
In another incident, a train checking party of RPF seized two packets of suspected ganja containing around 8 kg at Badarpur station on Monday. The value of seized contraband is around Rs 80,000.
A train escort party detected one unclaimed handbag under berth no. 12 of coach no. B/4 of No. 02501 Agartala � New Delhi AC Special.
On arrival of the train at Badarpur at 9.50 pm, the escort party unloaded the bag in presence of other on-duty staff and recovered the ganja.
