JORHAT, Nov 20 - Pulibor Police on the western outskirts here on Friday arrested a person identified as Mothu Saikia on charges of physically assaulting the APDCL Baligaon Sub-divisional engineer Mousami Saikia and a lineman Prasanta Bharali on Thursday afternoon when an APDCL team had gone to disconnect power supply to households that defaulted in bill payments.
As per the case (no: 710/2020) registered at the Pulibor PS under Sections 326, 352, 353 and 307 of the IPC following lodging of an FIR by the APDCL SDE, the accused Mothu Saikia was arrested this evening.
Mousami in her complaint to the police alleged that during the disconnection drive at Chengeliati Kushgaon, she spotted a house which was illegally drawing power from an electric cable.
Mausumi stated that as soon as she instructed linesman Prasanta Bharali to disconnect the illegally-obtained electricity connection, she and Bharali were abused and assaulted by one Mothu Saikia.
