DHUBRI, Feb 1 - Police on Thursday night arrested one Rahul Prasad of ward no.13 of Dhubri town for hurting religious sentiments and provoking riots following an FIR registered at Dhubri PS (case no. 169/2020 under Section 153/153 (A) of IPC read with Section 67 of IT Act).
The FIR stated that the accused had posted a photo on social media where he has replaced the domes of religious institutions with male genitals. It may be informed that following this post, hundreds of people gathered around the Dhubri PS demanding his immediate arrest on Saturday night. The situation in the town area remained tensed due to the incident and extra forces had to be deployed at different places of the town fearing communal riot. Dhubri police also urged all the people of Dhubri to maintain peace and harmony.
Meanwhile, police arrested the accused on Thursday night itself and forwarded him before the court for legal action.
