DIGBOI, Sept 15 - Ashish Dey, a resident of Digboi Purnima Nagar in No. 1 Borbil area under Digboi Police Station was arrested by Digboi Police late on Saturday late evening for violating the Child Labour and Juvenile Justice Act. The arrest was made in connection with Digboi PS case No. 244 /19 and 245 /19 u/s 325/34 r/w section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and 14 (a) of Child Labour Act 2016.
Earlier on Saturday morning, the Tinsukia District Child Labour Task Force had rescued a minor girl from the residence of the accused wherein she was allegedly engaged as house maid and subjected to mistreatment, both mentally and physically.
The Investigating Officer Biraj Das said that the accused in the case was arrested immediately after receiving the FIR to this effect and was produced before the SDJM Margherita today for further legal proceedings.
�Two more children were rescued by the task force from Golai area wherein the minors were engaged in manual tasks in a nearby dairy farm,� Das said.
