DIMAPUR, Aug 31 - One person was arrested by Cyber Crime Police Station, Kohima for posting sexually explicit/obscene picture of a girl on Facebook.
A police release said the accused and the victim had come to know each other from Facebook and had a relationship. Later, suspecting the victim of having other relationships, the accused had posted intimate pictures of the victim.
The release warned that under IT Act, 2008, publishing or transmitting of sexually explicit act/obscene pictures in electronic form is a punishable offence with a minimum of three years imprisonment and fine up to Rs 5 lakh.
In many social media groups in Nagaland, including Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Twitter, etc., it has been observed that such posting of sexually explicit/obscene material is being done randomly. Hence, the public have been advised to refrain from posting/forwarding/copy pasting any such materials in electronic form, as it will attract penalty action, it stated.
