One act play contest in Tihu on July 28-29

TIHU, July 19 - The schedule for the Guruji Jogesh Sarma Memorial All Assam One Act Play Contest to be held at the Tihu Gandhi Bhawan on July 28-29 was released recently.

The contest will be held under the aegis of the Asom Natya Sanmilan, Tihu unit, and the Tihu Anchalik Students� Union.

Sankar Kumar Das, president of the reception committee at a press meet held at the Tihu Public Library, stated that 13 drama groups will participate in the contest.

On July 28, six plays � Raagar Samadhi by Gojali Drama Group of Tihu, Hengulia Kiran by Ankuran Drama Group of Belsor, Amare Maina Xubae by Rong Drama Group of Barpeta, Hur Hur Botah Charai by Darrang District Sahitya Sabha, Astropachar by Dinabandhu Drama Group of Nalbari, and Parinaam by Samannay Drama Group of Chaygaon � will be staged.

On July 29, Swarnalipi by a drama group of Bhaluki, Maya Mriga by Rangghar Drama Group of Barpeta, Alap by Kaliabor Drama Group, Violin by Barpeta Drama Group, Bukut Ejak Dhumuha by Jugabandhu Drama Group of Sipajhar, Abaddha Akash by Jyoti Silpa Drama Group of Nagaon, and Chicken Parlour by Jengrai Assam of Mangaldai will be staged.

Two street plays will also be performed by children attending a drama workshop being organised by the Asom Natya Sanmilan, Tihu unit, to create awareness against superstitions in society.

Kumud Bhattacharjya, president of the Nalbari Natya Sanmilan, Dr Suresh Chandra Sarma, president of the Asom Natya Sanmilan, Tihu unit, Pramod Deka, working president of the reception committee and many others were present at the press meet.
