Old Assam House in Shillong to be preserved

GUWAHATI, July 12 � The old Assam House in Shillong will be preserved as a heritage building. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today issued directives to the officials of the concerned departments in this regard.

Official sources said that Gogoi today reviewed the progress of construction of a new Assam Bhawan in Shillong. The new four-storied building will cover an area of 32,000 square feet and the total cost of the same will be around Rs 5.73 crore.

Sources said that the construction of the new building started last year and it is likely to be completed by December this year. The Government is planning to open the new Bhawan for people in January next year, sources said.
