GUWAHATI, April 21 � A team of the academic staff of the Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development (OKDISCD), led by its director visited eminent historian and social scientist Prof Amalendu Guha at the hospital and took stock of his health condition, said a press release.
The Institute, in recognition of the contributions of Prof Guha also offered a token financial aid of Rs 1 lakh to him and handed over the cheque for the amount to his wife Anima Guha. It may be mentioned that Prof Guha has played a very important role in establishing the institute as well as in its growth in various capacities including that of being a member of its managing committee.
As part of its silver jubilee celebrations, the institute will also organise a lecture on the theme of the life and contributions of Prof Guha in the coming days. However, at this juncture, all the members of the institute, both academic and administrative, have wished a speedy recovery of the renowned academician.
