Ojha guides Jaipur to victory

By The Assam Tribune

AHMEDABAD, March 28 (PTI): Naman Ojhas superb knock of 80 off just 49 balls proved to be vital as Jaipur registered a 17-run victory over Chennai.

Chennai lost an early wicket in the form of Matthew Hayden, chasing 178 for for victory against Jaipur.

But Murali Vijay and Suresh Raina did not let that hamper the chase as they started to play their shots well with Vijay being more dominant of the two.

When Chennai lost Murali Vijay at the score of 75 in 8.4 overs, they seem to be in total command against Jaipur.

But soon after Chennai lost another wicket in Suresh Raina to find themselves in a spot of bother.

The run-rate dipped suddenly and even though Chennai captain MS Dhoni tried to increase the mometum, along with S Badrinath, but the run-rate kept getting stiffer.

Dhonis run out ended Chennais chances.

But Albie Morkel brough Chennai back into contention with three sixes of a Warne's over but his dismissal by Tait in the next over ended all hopes.

Earlier, riding on Naman Ojha's superb knock of 80 off just 49 balls, Jaipur managed to post a competitive total of 177 for eight against Chennai.

Jaipur got off to a fine start after electing to bat first against Chennai in the IPL match in Ahmedabad.

But Michael Lumb departed after playing a breezy knock.

Thereafter Faiz Fazal and Yusuf Pathan tried to consolidate the innings but Shadab Jakati bagged two quick wickets to get rid of both Fazal and Pathan and put Chennai on top.

However, Naman Ojha continued to play attacking cricket and he simply destroyed the Chennai bowling and he finally departed after scoring superb 80 off just 49 balls.

Soon even Adam Voges joined him in the dressing room and thereafter the wickets simply kept on falling and Jaipur reached 177 for eight at the end of 20 overs.
