GUWAHATI, March 15 - Soneswar Deka won triple crown while Gautam Hazarika clinched double crown in the 37th Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) Inter Unit Table Tennis Championships held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai from March 8 to 12. The championship was organised by the IOC under the aegis of PSPB.
The Oil India Limited (OIL) veteran team, represented by Gautam Hazarika, Tridib Duvarah, Soneswar Deka and Devo Dutta won the team title beating Engineers India Limited (EIL) 3-0 in the final. ONGC team finished third in the event.
In addition Soneswar Deka won the veteran men�s singles title defeating his team mate Gautam Hazarika in a well contested final while Gautam/Soneswar duo bagged the doubles title defeating ONGC�s P Thakre/AK Saxsena pair.
Moreover, Subhajit Sah/Birdie Boro won bronze medal in the men�s doubles event. Arjuna Awardee and former national champion Mouma Das of OIL won silver medal in the women�s singles event. However, OIL women�s team comprising Mouma Das, Nandita Saha and Adrija Sarma won the bronze medal in the team event, stated an OIL release.
