OIL storm into semifinals

MANGALDAI, Sept 12 � Former champions Oil India Limited (OIL) Football Club, Duliajan, stormed into the semifinals of the 35th Amba Medhi Football Tournament.

In the completely one sided second quarterfinal of the championship at the Mangaldai Stadium here today, the Duliajan team thrashed 16th IR Police Battalion of Morigaon 6-0.

Manash Manjit Chutia was the hero of the mat as he alone scored three goals.

Both the teams started cautiously and fought evenly at the initial stage, but after Manash Manjit Chutia�s goal in the 36th minute, the sluice gate of the cops opened. After the first goal the OIL team took complete control of the situation and over powered the opponent in all the departments.

Manash enhanced the margin just after two minutes as the Duliajan outfit maintained 2-0 lead till the break.

OIL FC came out more aggressively after the break. Their Nigerian striker TT Mandi made the scoreline 3-0 in the 50th minute and after two minutes, Manash netted his third goal. Gerencha Basumatary (57th minute) and Birjob Musahary (83rd minute) scored one goal each to complete the rout.
