Oil India FC in semis

JORHAT, Nov 6 � Oil India Limited Football Club stormed into the last-four stage of ATPA Shield Football Tournament with a thumping 8-2 goal victory against 9th Assam Police Battalion.

In a one-sided affair at the Jorhat Stadium here today, defender Raju Konwar opened the account in the 11th minute with a sharp header off a flag kick. In the very next minute Manas Manjil Chutia enhanced the margin. But Joseph Ali reduced the gap scoring immediately after conceding the second goal.

Jayanta Basumatary took the tally to 3-1 with a smart drive in the 29th minute. By this time the OIL team got their peak form and fired two more salvos through Raju Konwar and Manas in the 35th and 60th minutes respectively.

The cops again tried to get back into the game by reducing the margin in the 62nd minute through Arun Gayari.

But the OIL players were on rampage and netted three more goals in the later part of the match. Birjob Musahary, Prasanta Choudhury and Jayanta Basumatary were the scorers on these occasions. In the semifinal, OIL will play against ASEB on November 8.
