OIL extends huge aid to Dibrugarh University

DIBRUGARH, Nov 15 � Under the company�s CSR policy, OIL Board approved a financial aid of Rs 3.68 crore � the highest aid till date to any educational institution by OIL � to the Centre of Management Studies (CMS) of Dibrugarh University. NM Borah, CMD, OIL, inaugurated the academic building of CMS on Sunday.

Out of the total amount, Rs 3.22 crore has been utilized for construction of the academic building of CMS and rest of the amount has been incurred for construction of a two-storeyed boys� hostel for 35 students.

As on date, a total of Rs 4.12 crore has been incurred in the project. Besides OIL�s contribution of Rs 3.68 crore, Dibrugarh University has contributed around Rs 44 lakh on the project till date.

It may be noted that OIL had instituted the KDM Chair in Dibrugarh University on 03.02.1992 towards imparting high quality research on petroleum exploration. Presently Rs 10 lakh is the annual budgetary allocation for this Chair, under which various projects/studies were undertaken based on OIL�s E&P requirements.

Initially, the focus of these projects were mainly on sedimentological and palynological studies of Upper Assam Basin which forms a substantial area of OIL�s area of operation. The results of the studies form a major database for input to OIL�s basin modelling studies.
