OIL bid to honour COVID-19 unsung heroes

DULIAJAN, April 3 - Even as monetary contributions from topnotch industrialists, actors and sport celebrities get noticed during the threat by COVID-19 pandemic in the country, national crude oil and natural gas exploration major Oil India Ltd has taken an uncommon step to salute the unsung real warriors, who have fought against the dreaded COVID-19 virus.

Oil India Ltd today started a campaign to pay tributes to the grassroot workers under emergency services, who have served to stop the spread of COVID-19 risking their lives. Under the �OIL salutes COVID-19 warriors � You are our heroes� campaign launched today, the company published the names and photos of constable Manuj Lahon of Duliajan Police and a firefighter under OIL Fire Service department, Manik Rajkonwar. The duo was thanked by the OIL team on behalf of every policeman and fire service worker who have wholeheartedly been pursuing their duties even ignoring the threat to their lives.

Manuj Lahon and Manik Rajkonwar symbolizes service and ultimate sacrifice by workers of the world, who have been continuously fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic, said Oil India�s spokesperson and Deputy General Manager of Public Affairs department, Tridiv Hazarika.

The idea of the campaign was guided by OIL�s CMD Sushil Chandra Mishra and later it was shaped by Public Affairs department of the company, Tridiv Hazarika added.

The photos of the two have been taken when they were rendering their respective services. Later their posters were circulated through OIL India�s Facebook and Twitter accounts. For a wider circulation, we spread our campaign posters through some WhatsApp group also, he further added.

According to information, OIL will continue the campaign for next ten days and will thank two real unsung heroes fighting against the dreaded virus, each day from other emergency services till April 14, i.e., till the end of the national lockdown.

The impressive campaign to honour the unrecognised real life heroes of COVID-19 pandemic situation by a PSU, headquartered in Assam has opened a new dimension to express commendation in the corporate history of the country.
