DULIAJAN, Jan 16 - The Oil India All Assam Junior Tennis Championship 2016-2017 got under way today at the Zaloni Club tennis courts here.
The championship is being organised by the Zaloni Club, Duliajan under the auspices of the All Assam Tennis Association and sponsored by Oil India Limited (OIL). All together 110 players from various parts of the region are taking part in it which is played in boys� singles (U-12, 14, 18) and girls� singles (U-14 and 18), stated a release.
Bedanta Prasad Sarma, Resident Chief Executive (RCE), OIL was the chief guest in the opening ceremony who formally inaugurated the championship amidst a colourful opening ceremony. Anup Kumar Gogoi, Executive Director, OIL was the guest of honour. Kalyan Kumar Das, former State and Petroleum Sports Promotional Board (PSPB) Tennis Champion and senior executive of OIL, was felicitated in the function. Earlier, Achintya Nath, chairman, organising committee welcomed the gathering.
