OIL adopts 3 orphaned rhino calves

DULIAJAN, Aug 11 - Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Oil India Limited (OIL) has adopted three orphaned rhino calves which are being looked after by the Wildlife Trust of India�s Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation located at Panbari Borguri, Bokakhat, in Golaghat district.

In the recent floods in the State, the Kaziranga National Park was severely affected and a lot of wild animals were killed. Some animals were rescued by the local people, representatives of NGOs and Forest officials, stated an OIL press release.

A cheque for Rs 3 lakh was handed over by Bhaskar Khaund, ED (HR), OIL, to Vivek Menon, founder and CEO, WTI, at the OIL�s corporate office in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, as the initial amount to take care of the immediate needs of the three rhino calves. OIL will extend financial assistance in this respect on a periodic basis.

A team from OIL�s Public Affairs Department, based in the Field Headquarters here, visited the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation in Kaziranga National Park on August 8 to see the rescued rhinos calves and hold discussions with the officials of WTI.
