TEZPUR, April 12 A section of government officials were trying to include the names of illegal migrants in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) by forging the documents under the pressure from the ruling government, alleged Dul Dul Borkotaki, assistant general secretary of AASU in a discussion of Tezpur district AASU and 26 other indigenous organisations held here today at the conference hall of tourist lodge.
The meeting resolute that the Central observer from the Election Commission must be deputed to observe the preparation of NRC for Tezpur subdivision as well as the district so that the names of the illegal Bangladeshis are not included in the NRC.
Moreover, the members of the different organisations expressed serious concern on the matter that the names of the indigenous people must be included in the NRC as it would provide the safe guard to the indigenous people of Assam. All the organizations present in the meeting decided to observe the preparation of NRC in every locality to prevent inclusion of the names of Bangladeshi nationals.
