NEW DELHI, Feb 10 (IANS): The Delhi High Court Friday refused Yahoo India's plea for staying a trial court's proceedings against it for allegedly hosting objectionable content on its website and adjourned the case till Mar 1.
The court was hearing Yahoo's plea against the lower court's order to prosecute the website for allegedly hosting objectionable content.
Justice Suresh Kait posted the matter for further hearing Mar 1.
Yahoo is among the websites, including Facebook and Google, which were on Monday directed by Administrative Civil Judge Praveen Singh to file written statements within 15 days on removing objectionable content from their sites. This was after the Google informed it that it has removed some pages.
"Defendants must file a written statement within 15 days," said the court and listed the matter for March 1.
The court was hearing a petition moved by Mufti Aijaz Arshad Quasmi, an Islamic researcher running NGO Peace Foundation, who sought removal of objectionable content from websites.
