IMPHAL, Dec 9 � Endorsing the stand of the United Naga Council (UNC) against the participation of the State chief minister, council of ministers and MLAs in the forthcoming state-level Orange Festival in Tamenglong headquarters, the Naga Youth Front (NYF) has called a 48-hour Tamenglong district bandh starting tomorrow midnight.
Echoeing the statement of the UNC, the Naga Youth Front said that it is upholding the July 1 Naga People Convention (NPC) declaration of severing political ties with the state government of Manipur.
The Orange Festival has been slated for December 11 and 12.
The NYF said that the participation of the chief minister, ministers and MLAs in the event is bound to create disturbances. �The government of Manipur under the leadership of chief minister O Ibobi Singh has records of terrorising the innocent Naga people, and because of this we have apprehension of recurrance of such ugly episode,� asserted the Naga Youth Front. It suggested that the chief minister, ministers and the MLAs to keep themselves away from the Orange Festival. �The government of Manipur will be responsible for any consequences thereof,� cautioned the Naga Youth Front.
Mentionably, two days ago the United Naga Council (UNC) had urged the Zeliangrong people to prevent the chief minister of Manipur, his council of ministers and MLAs from participating in the forthcoming Orange Festival to be held in Tamenglong district headquarters.
�At the backdrop of this development, the UNC reminds the Zeliangrong people in particular and Nagas in general to uphold the Naga decision and stop unwanted persons from inaugurating and participating in the said festival because it will amount to re-terrorising the tribals.
