NWR in command against SCR

GUWAHATI, March 30 - North Western Railway Sports Association (NWRSA) were in a comfort zone against South Central Railway Sports Association (SCRSA) in the final of the 61st Inter Railway Cricket Tournament.

On the penultimate day of the four-day final at the NF Railway Sports Association Stadium, Maligaon today, completing their first innings at 256, the NWR removed four SCRSA scalps. Resuming at the overnight total of 80 for four the NWR took 98 overs to cross the 250-run mark with Mohammed Ahmed (not out 76) and Yatendra Panwar (55) being the leading scorers. For SCR Seikh Kamruddin came out with a rich six-wicket haul for 51.

Brief scores: NWR 1st innings 256 (Mohammed Ahmed not out 76, Yatendra Panwar 55, Vikram Rajawat 35, Afroz Khan 25, Suryaprakash Suvalka 23; SK Kamruddin 6/51, B Sudhakar 3/59). SCR 1st innings 73/4 (G Shyam Sundar batting 42; Gaurav Khatri 2/36).
