By Correspondent

UDALGURI, June 15 Former PHE Minister and present MLA of Udalguri LAC Rihon Daimari inaugurated a nutrition rehabilitation centre here on the Udalguri civil hospital premises today.

Inaugurating the centre, Daimari hoped that the centre, under the NRHM, Assam, would serve the purpose of the region.

The main objective of the centre is to provide quality service to the severely malnourished children identified in the district.

The programme was chaired by Dr Dilip Hazarika, Joint Director of Health Services, Udalguri district, while Nomal Borgoyary, district programme manager of NRHM, anchored the whole programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Thaneswar Malakar, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri district, said that people would avail more and more medical facilities from the government now onwards as the government has taken a good number of people-friendly schemes to wipe out sufferings of the people in the State.

The programme was also attended by Anima Bayan, government-nominated MCLA, and Rameswar Boro, social worker of Udalguri region.

Clarified: Meanwhile, Nelson Daimari, Principal in-charge of Harisinga HS School, in a statement clarified that the Inspector of Schools of Udalguri district did not visit this school personally on May 31 last, but sought the attendance register of teachers of the school at her office, which was accordingly given to her.

It is to be noted that a report was published in the June 14 issue of The Assam Tribune regarding showcause notices served to some teachers of the school. But it was later clarified by the Principal in-charge of the school that the Inspector of Schools did not physcially visit the school and only summoned the head with the teachers attendance register to her office.
