Nurul Amin Trophy to start on October 10

GUWAHATI, Sept 11 � The Assam Cricket Association will be organising the Nurul Amin Trophy limited overs tournament from October 10 to 20 at Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. The Dibrugarh leg of the knockout tournament will involve Nagaon, Morigaon, Goalpara, Silchar and Charaideo while the Tinsukia leg will involve Dibrugarh, Bongaigaon, NF Railway, Biswanath and Guwahati. The top teams of the two legs will meet in the final at Tinsukia on October 20.

The tournament is aimed at giving match practice to the players as well as help the selectors in selecting the team for the national tournaments.

The SP Baruah Challenger Trophy tournament, involving three teams comprising the Ranji, U-23 and U-19 probables, will be held at Goalpara from the September 20. The matches of the tournament will be a two-day affair.

The Assam Cricket Association also announced Bokakhat as a new venue for BCCI junior tournaments. Assam will play Chhattishgarh in the Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 match at the Bokakhat District Sports Association stadium in Bokakhat from the December 5 to 8.

BCCI curator Ashish Bhowmik will inspect the ground and pitch soon. All the other BCCI tournament matches will be held in Guwahati, stated ACA secretary Bikash Baruah in a press statement.
