NSSO�s all-India workshop of trainers from today

GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) of the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is holding the All India Workshop of Trainers (AIWOT) for the 77th Round of its Socio Economic Surveys in Guwahati on September 27-28.

AIWOT for �Time Use Survey� will also be conducted on September 29 here for officers of the NSSO.

DV Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation, will inaugurate the workshop on September 27.

Vijay Goel, Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, will also be present on the occasion.

Among others who will attend the workshop include Dr Manoj Kumar Panda, Acting Chairman of National Statistical Commission; KV Eapen, Secretary in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation; members of National Statistical Commission; senior officers of NSSO and the state directorates of economics & statistics.

Socio-economic surveys conducted by the NSSO during its different rounds are the primary source of various indicators used by the government for planning, policy formulation and decision making. The subjects being covered in this survey are �Land and livestock holdings of households and situation assessment of agricultural households� and �Debt and investment�.

The NSSO and the state directorates of economics & statistics will carry out the 77th round survey programme jointly for a period of one year starting from January 1, 2019. In addition, the Time Use Survey (TUS) will be also launched from that day.
