NSS State Award to city college teacher

GUWAHATI, June 28 - Nurul Islam, assistant professor of philosophy, Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College and Programme Officer of the college�s NSS unit, has been awarded the Assam State NSS Award for the year 2017-18 among the colleges under Gauhati University.

The award was jointly given away by Lakhya Konwar, Member Secretary, State Level Advisory Committee for Student and Youth Welfare; Sadhana Hojai, Commissioner, Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Govt of Assam and Pabitra Ram Khaund, Director, Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam at a solemn function held at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium here today.

On the occasion the college�s NSS unit�s mouthpiece Sankalpa was also released by Konwar, Hojai, Khaund, Hemanta Kumar Sarma, Regional Director, NSS and Dr Sikhamoni Konwar, Principal, Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College. Sankalpa mirrors in detail the events and activities carried out by the college�s NSS unit every year.

At the same function five student volunteers of the college � Karabi Thakuria, Kakoli Deka, Bhaskar Kakoti, Vikram Bora and Krishna Karki were felicitated with mementos and certificates of appreciation.

Dr Amburam Gogoi, president of the college�s governing body, principals, teachers, and students from different colleges of the State and other dignitaries attended the function where Karabi Thakuria and Kakoli Deka presented melodious songs.
