NSF suspends proposed stir

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Nov 12 - The Naga Students Federation (NSF) today said that it has decided to keep in abeyance its first-phase agitation against the alleged inaction of the Nagaland Government in setting up the Nagaland Staff Selection Board.

The federation took the decision following a communique on November 7, which stated that the Government was actively pursuing the issue of constituting the board meant to conduct recruitment of Grade III staff, a release issued by NSFs media cell said today.

It said as per the government communique, the draft proposal was placed as agenda in the Cabinet meeting on October 18. The meeting had decided to constitute a committee under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Sentiyanger Imchen, the release added.

Informing of the decision to all its federating units, sub-units and the student community, the NSF appreciated Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his Cabinet colleagues for responding to the aspirations of Naga youths and students by setting up a committee for constituting the board.

It appealed to the committee headed by Imchen to examine the matter on merit and forward its recommendations to the State Government accordingly within the stipulated time. The NSF expressed the hope that the Government would set up the board at the earliest on the basis of the recommendations of the committee.
