NSF calls off ban on Manipur vehicles

IMPHAL, Feb 27 - Nagaland-based Naga Students� Federation (NSF) today called off its ban on movement of Manipuri-owned vehicles in Naga inhabited areas following the suspension of Manipur police personnel, sources said.

The ban which was imposed on Wednesday, was lifted on Friday afternoon following action taken by Manipur police.

NSF has been demanding action against Manipur police commandos who allegedly accosted a team of NSF in Imphal on February 14 while on their way to attend Lui Ngai Ni festival in Ukhrul.

In a letter addressed to NSF president on Thursday, Additional DGP Manipur C Doungel informed that five police personnel have been placed under suspension with immediate effect in connection with the February 14 incident at Mantripukhri near Imphal.
