SILCHAR, April 15: In a major scalp, Cachar police along with the 37 Battalion of Assam Rifles C Coy nabbed one cadre of the NSCN( K) outfit from Lakhipur.
According to Additional SP (Headquarters) Jagadish Das, in the early hours of Tuesday, SDPO Lakhipur Anurag Sarmah, along with 37 Battalion of Assam Rifles C Coy and OC Jirighat police station conducted a search operation at Namdailong village under Jirighat PS at Lakhipur and nabbed a person identified as Nambipou (29), a resident of Tamenglong district in Manipur.
The Additional SP informed that on interrogation it was revealed that the arrested ultra is an NSCN (K) cadre and his rank is 'Corporal'.
He confessed that he joined underground group ZUF in February 2016 and later in July 2018, he left ZUF and joined NSCN (K).
He was arrested from his hideout at his aunt's place, the Additional SP said.
Police recovered one .22 mm pistol, one magazine, seven rounds of .22 mm ammunition, two combat trousers, two combat shirts, one rifle sling with accesories, one pair of boot patti and one BSNL SIM card from his possession.
