DIMAPUR, Oct 14 � An NSCN(IM) �captain� was apprehended by the Assam Rifles for extortion in Dimapur.
According to the PRO, IGAR (North), troops of 29 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles launched an operation on specific information about tax collection at Hong Kong Market area in Dimapur on October 10.
During the operation, an NSCN (IM) cadre was apprehended along with illegal extortion money amounting Rs 47,130 and 26 work permits. He was identified as SS Capt Vezolo Doulo of NSCN(IM) from Phek district.
According to the IGAR (North), the person was earlier apprehended by 29 Assam Rifles on September 17 from an illegal office-cum-detention centre of NSCN (IM) at Half Nagarjan in Dimapur for criminal offences, including abduction, illegal confinement and extortion. He was released on bail by the Court on September 30. The apprehended individual was handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur along with recovered items, the IGAR (North) said.
In another operation, troops of the 29 Assam Rifles launched an operation based on specific information about tax collection in Rail Bazaar Colony area on Octiber 11. During the operation, a �tax collector� was apprehended along with cash and cash receipt booklets. The apprehended person was identified as Kika Zima, resident of Sughna in Dimapur. The apprehended individual was handed over to Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur along with recovered items, the IGAR (North) added.
