DIMAPUR, March 3 � Troops of Assam Rifles busted an NSCN(IM) camp at Bamsikilwa in Peren district. The Assam Rifles, along with local villagers, set the NSCN(IM) camp on fire.

According to a defence release, troops of 18 Assam Rifles conducted the search operation on February 27 and detected a temporary camp of the outfit deep inside a reserve forest in general area on the Barail Mountain Range. Some incriminating documents revealing important information have also been recovered during the operation.

The camp was adequately equipped to accommodate underground cadres with facilities for living, cooking, assembly and miscellaneous activities. �It becomes palpable that the insurgent group continues to conduct movement and activities in complete violation of the Ceasefire Ground Rules,� the release stated.

In another incident, a joint operation by the 18 Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police led to the recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition on the outskirts of Old Chalkot village near Athibung in Peren district on February 24.

During the pervasive search, two 7.65 mm pistols along with three magazines, a .22 pistol with magazine and 11 live rounds of 7.65mm calibre were recovered. The items, packed in polythene, was found buried 1.5 feet under the ground and covered with thick foliage. All the recovered items were handed over to police station at Athibung, the release added.
