NSCN(I-M) workers held

ITANAGAR, April 24 - Troops of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of the Indian Army apprehended two overground workers of the NSCN (I-M) near Lower Kollam village and Khonsa town in Tirap district on Thursday.

Based on a specific Intelligence inputs, the troops launched an operation in the area and apprehended the duo who have been identified as Tewang Hangsik, a resident of Lower Kollam, and Dongley Lowang of Lower Chinghana village.

The troops also recovered 30 sacks of rice weighing 1,500 kg, suspected to have been siphoned off from PDS stocks for use by the insurgent group.

The apprehended duo, along with the seized rice, were handed over to the Khonsa Police Station, stated a Defence release here today.
