DIMAPUR, April 21 Even as the All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) today directed all its members to refrain from paying tax being collected by the Naga underground groups as the matter is under negotiation, the NSCN (K) has informed that no department, particularly Education and Medical, can be exempted from the tax bracket.

The teachers body, in a release, asked its members to strictly comply with the directive not to pay tax to any group because the issue on exemption of educational institutions from taxation is under negotiation with various factional groups. Therefore, it said till such time the issue is amicably resolved between the negotiating parties, the question of paying tax does not arise and none of the Association members should pay the tax.

However, the NSCN (K), in a release today, said as a peoples revolutionary Govt it levied only nominal and negligible amount/taxes from all Govt related works, while stating that this trend shall continue till Nagas achieve sovereignty from the occupational forces.

While voicing respect for the apex student bodies - NSF & ENSF, it said the NSCN (K) cannot exempt any particular departments (particularly Education & Medical).
