DIMAPUR, Oct 14 - The Assam Rifles apprehended an NSCN-K cadre and seized one .22 pistol from New Colony, Zunheboto district on October 5. An Assam Rifles release today said based on information about extortion activity in the area by NSCN-K cadres, Assam Rifles troops along with police launched a search operation and apprehended the NSCN-K cadre identified as Tomakum Yimchunger.
Following his interrogation, one .22 pistol with magazine, arms, etc., were recovered from one Keiseikham Yimchunger of Khumishi A village. He was also arrested. They were involved in extortion besides manufacturing and supply of illegal weapons to underground factions, the release said. The apprehended cadres were later handed over to Zunheboto Police.
