ITANAGAR, March 21 - Security forces have apprehended an active cadre of the proscribed NSCN-K from Manmao in Changlang district.
Based on specific inputs about the presence of militants at Phinbiro-I village under Manmao circle, a joint operation was launched by Manmao Police and 9th Rajputana Rifles on the intervening night of March 20-21. During the search operation, one suspected person was apprehended by the joint team from a jhum field at Phinbiro-I village in Changlang, SP Mihin Gambo said.
The arrested has identified himself as self-styled sergeant Moshang Thampang, an active cadre of the NSCN-K. During interrogation, he admitted that he had come for extortion in the area. The police recovered some cash and extortion notes from his possession.
