NSCN-IM observes Naga Independence Day

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Aug 14 - Like it or not, India and Nagas are unavoidably inter-related and inter-dependent, said NSCN-IM kilo kilonser (home minister) Rh Raising while speaking at the 70th Naga Independence Day celebration at Camp Hebron, the NSCN-IM headquarters, near here today.

He affirmed that the Nagas now at the final phase of negotiation are ready to enter the last stage of nation building. In spite of oppositions here and there, I firmly believe that the Nagas can overcome because the era of the Nagas, the time of the Nagas and the century of the Nagas has begun, he said.

Elaborating on the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM, the NSCN-IM leader said the agreement speaks of co-existence of the two recognised entities and reaffirms the unique history and position of the Nagas as mutually agreed upon.

He asserted that the Framework Agreement is the official agreement signed between Government of India and the Nagas represented by NSCN on the basis of mutual respect and recognition of rights. Raising further asserted that the fate of the Nagas will be decided according to their history, as a nation can never be built upon the foundation of a dead history.

On integration of all Naga territories, he said it is a natural necessity and not a choice. Integration of all Naga territories under one political umbrella is the legitimate right of the Nagas, which no power can stop, he asserted.
