ITANAGAR, Jan 20 - In a breakthrough, security forces have arrested a top operative of the insurgent group National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah), NSCN (IM) from Ngoitong village under Namtok circle of Changlang district yesterday.
Based on a specific intelligence, the Assam Rifles launched a cordon and search operation in Ngoitong area and apprehended the self-styled lieutenant Tenyang Kungkho alias Saka Tutsa, a dreaded Area Commander of NSCN (IM) early Tuesday morning, as per a report from 14 AR.
A China-make 9 mm loaded pistol, 12 bore barrel gun, six cartridges and other incriminating articles like village tax collection slips were recovered from his possession.
Saka Tutsa has been involved in extensive extortion and was arrested from his residence. His capture undoubtedly is a big blow to NSCN (IM) operations in upper Assam but guaranteed return of peace and public order to the harassed population in the area.
The arrestee was later handed over to the Changlang police station for further investigation, the report added.
