NRL wax bound for Mexico

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 28 - After Nepal and Kenya, NRL wax is now on its way to Mexico. The first consignment of wax, produced at Numaligarh Refinery, to Mexico was dispatched last week from the Inland Container Depot (ICD), Amingaon, Guwahati.

High quality of NRL wax has evinced interest from several other countries like Mozambique and the USA, making NRL wax a brand to be reckoned with worldwide, an NRL spokesperson said.

NRL commenced sale of paraffin wax in domestic market as well as exports since commissioning of its wax plant, the largest single unit producing wax in the country, in 2015. In a very short span, NRL has been able to capture around 40-45 per cent of the domestic market.

The wax plant was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 5, 2016. The utility of paraffin wax lies in making candles, tarpaulin sheets, food grade wrappers and in PVC pipe manufacturing industries, while microcrystalline wax finds widespread application in the manufacture of tyres, rubber products, paints and polishes, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
