NRL to develop Golaghat ITI as Centre of Excellence

GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - In another significant CSR development, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the State�s Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training (DECT) to set up and operate ITI Golaghat under the name and style, ITI Golaghat-NRL Centre of Excellence.

The agreement was signed between the CGM (HR) i/c NRL Debashish Choudhury and Director (DECT) Rituraj Bora at NRL�s corporate office here on August 29 in the presence of Senior CCM (Corporate Affairs) AK Bhattacharya and officials from NRL and DECT. As per the MoA, the State Government will hand over the existing infrastructure of ITI, Golaghat complex to NRL on long-term lease basis for developing the existing ITI into a Centre of Excellence. The institute shall offer approved courses to facilitate the youths of Assam and other North East States to improve their skills and thereby enhance their employability prospects particularly in the industrial sector, including hydrocarbon sector.

Under its CSR project �Uttoran�, NRL has already been providing skill development training to hundreds of local youths in skills like cutting & tailoring, welding, nursing, paramedical courses, weaving, hospitality management, commercial automobile maintenance, CNC operation, fitter, geriatric home healthcare and Panchakarma Ayurveda. This is in furtherance to the nationwide Skill India Mission of the Government of India.
