DHUBRI, Jan 20 - Himashri Sharma, a Class XI student from Gauripur town of Dhubri district, was honoured with the National Nritya-Bharati Award recently.

The prestigious award was conferred on her at the 8th Cuttack Mahotsav, International Dance & Music Festival-2017 held at Kala Vikash Kendra Auditorium, Cuttack, Odisha, recently.

Himashri, along with Aveshek Das of Bongaigon, represented Assam at the event where more than 30 participants from all over the nation, as well as abroad, performed Kathak. Himashri was awarded for her �performance and noteworthy achievements in the field of Kathak Dance�, states her award certificate.

Himashri, a student of National Academy of Gauripur who has been practicing Kathak since she was barely three years old, said, �This award has encouraged me to work harder. I was not expecting the honour against such experienced competitors,� she added.

Himashri is daughter of late Hiron Sarma and Uluma Devi Sarma of Ward No. 1 of Gauripur.
