NRC upgradation in Sonitpur dist from April 1

TEZPUR, March 29 � The process of upgradation of National Registration Certificate (NRC) based on Citizenship Act 1955 and Citizenship Rule 2003, under the direct supervision of the Supreme Court of India will start in Sonitpur district from April 1.

Talking to the mediapersons at the DC�s conference hall here on Friday, Lalit Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur said that all sort of arrangement has been completed and the process of upgradation of NRC will start from April 1.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that in the district 150 NSKs will be set up and through these seva kendras legacy data will be provided. Gogoi further said that by 2016 with the rest of the State the NRC upgradation will be completed in six phases taking 1951 and 1971 as base years. He also stated that data entry process of the citizens in the district is going on.

On the other hand, ADC, Jadab Saikia who is also a nodal officer for the NRC upgradation process in Sonitpur district briefing the mediapersons said that the primary work of the NRC upgradation will be executed from April covering 158 gaon panchayats in the districts. Mentioning about the training and appointment of officers for the process the nodal officer further pointed out that through every seva kendras (NKS) 2500 to 3000 families would be covered.
