NILAMBAZAR, March 13 - The second phase of family tree verification in the ongoing NRC update process will begin in Karimganj district from March 15, informed the district NRC nodal officer Ranjit Kumar Laskar. He said that the 1st phase which had started on February 17 will be completed within March 31.
The district administration has set up 52 new centres in the headquarters of every circle and block office of the district other than the Seva Kendras for the second phase.
Laskar further informed that 492 cases have been lodged in several police stations of the district against those who had submitted forged documents in the NRC update process. The DC is strictly monitoring the verification process. The 1st phase of the family tree verification has been completed 60 per cent in Karimganj till date.
