NRC legacy data in Darrang goes online

MANGALDAI, April 1 � In the run-up to the update of the NRC, in Darrang district, the relevant legacy data for the citizens of the district was successfully uploaded online for the public through functioning of NRC Seva Kendras (NSKs). Manoj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Darrang recently ceremonially inaugurated the Seva Kendra set up on the premises of Mangaldai Municipal Board.

Nasiruddin Ahmed, a resident of ward No. 2, Mangaldai town was delighted when he found the name of his forefathers in the online legacy data with a click on the button. The Deputy Commissioner handed over him the printout of the data duly countersigned by the Local Registrar of Citizenship Registration (LRCR) in the Seva Kendra.

The Deputy Commissioner in his inaugural speech urged the public of the district to avail the services of 80 such technically well-equipped Seva Kendras for necessary verification and collection of legacy data.

The inaugural function was also attended by Ranjit Kalita, CEO, Darrang Zila Parishad and Vivek Raj Singh, SP, Darrang, among others. The inaugural function was followed by a public awareness meeting in the municipal auditorium where senior administrative officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioners Dr Bijoya Choudhury and Banashri Nath, Bibhas Modi, PD, DRDA, Nayan Kr Pathak, Circle Officer, Mangaldai Revenue Circle outlined the role of the NSKs and different aspects of NRC update.
