NPF unhappy over Govts attitude in House

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, March 1 - The Opposition Naga Peoples Front (NPF) in Nagaland has expressed displeasure that some questions put forth by its legislators were not listed in the business list by the Assembly Secretariat while some others were not answered or twisted during the Question Hour in the recently concluded Assembly session.

In a release issued today, the NPF said some of the questions raised before a particular department by its MLAs were not answered by the caretaker MLA concerned but by Cabinet ministers of other departments. The Opposition party expressed dismay at the attitude of the ruling Peoples Democratic Alliance legislators over many issues concerning the State.

The release said when NPF Legislature Party leader TR Zeliang sought a clarification on roads from Planning Minister Neiba Kronu, the latter failed to give a satisfactory answer on the floor of the House. Zeliang raised the question during the debate on the Budget speech of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on the last day of the session on Tuesday.

The NPF said Kronu simply said good roads for Dimapur and Kohima would be constructed within two to three years.

The NPF said the Opposition leader asked the minister to name the roads in the two cities, under which scheme the works are being executed and the amount sanctioned and requested him to publish the information in local dailies. The party rued that no information sought by the Opposition leader has appeared in the local dailies till date.

The NPF asked the Government to be sincere in its approach towards development of the State.
