Novels more popular among online buyers of Assamese books

GUWAHATI, June 19 - With online availability of Assamese books making the search and purchase easier for the Assamese literature lovers within the State and outside, several popular titles are gaining favourable response in the leading online retailer Amazon.

The option of online purchase of Assamese books has also helped the people living outside the State, who can get their desired books delivered at their doorsteps, within just a few days.

Leading publication house Jyoti Prakashan�s Asimat Jar Heral Seema by Kanchan Barua and Makam by Dr Reeta Choudhury received maximum orders from online customers from among the titles of the publishing house. A total of 95 books from the house are available online.

�We started giving the books to the website two months back and the trend noticed so far is that novels are more popular among the readers. Orders come from within the State and some other cities of the country as well,� said proprietor Nagen Sarma. Some other books popular among the online shoppers are Deo Langkhui, Anuradha Sarma Pujarir Diary and Bandha Gharar Khiriki.

The leading shopping website has enlisted almost all the remarkable titles of Bani Prakash Mandir in their website.

Books such as Datal Hatir Uye Khowa Haoda by Dr Mamoni Raysom Goswami, Anuradhar Desh by Phanindra Kr Dev Choudhury, Yajnaseni of Dr Prativa Rai, Agnisnata Sita, Moi Cottonian Asilo by Dr Sunita Changkakati, Sesh Pristha by Jitumoni Bora, Assomiya Basanbhangi by HN Sarma, Valmiki Ramayana and Veda Vyasa Mahabharata by GP Dev Choudhury, Mor Priya Galpa and Aarar Nari by Maini Mahanta etc., are available for readers throughout the world.

Another prominent house Banalata�s 87 titles are available online. Some important titles include Mur Joubanar Ramdhenu, Charitrahina, Shankhaninad and Samay Asamay. The publishing house started giving books to Amazon around two and a half months back. Publishing houses Banphool and Aank-Baak also have their presence on Amazon.
