Notification issued for Arunachal polls

ITANAGAR, March 15 � Election Commission of India today issued notification for holding simultaneous elections to the State Assembly and the Lok Sabha in Arunachal Pradesh, Election Office sources here said.

The State is going to elect two members of Lok Sabha and 60 members of Vidhan Sabha on April 9 next.

The last date for filing of nominations is March 22. While scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled for March 24, the last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 26, the sources said.

The decision for holding simultaneous polls came from the poll body days after the State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma recommended dissolution of the State Assembly on March 6.
