GUWAHATI, April 5 � Popular Assamese singer Mihir Bordoloi passed away around 10:30 am today at Dispur Polyclinic following prolonged illness. He was 75.
Bordoloi, who gave Assamese film and music industry, several chartbusters during his career spanning almost five decades, was also awarded �Silphi Bota� by Assam Government in 2009. He was a resident of Uzanbazar.
Condolences poured in from cross section of society after his demise. Members of Assamese film and music industry have unanimously termed Bordoloi�s death as an irreparable loss to the cultural arena.
His mortal remains were taken to Swahid Nyas and Rabindra Bhawan, besides several other organizations where fans offered their last respects to the departed soul.
The popular singer�s last rites were performed at Navagrah cremation ground around 2:30 pm.
Bordoloi leaves behind his wife, two sons and a daughter.
