Union Minister inaugurates three NIELIT Centres in Assam, Manipur

Imphal, Sep 18: Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Thursday inaugurated three National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Centres in Northeast states.

The formal physical inauguration programme of the new NIELIT Centre was held at Tuibuong in Manipur's Churachandpur district wherein the visiting union MoS minister also virtually inaugurated two new NIELIT centres at Kokrajhar and Tezpur in Assam.

The Union Minister also upgraded two existing NIELIT centres at Imphal and Aizawl during the day's event, a DIPR report said.

Speaking on the occasion, the visiting Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the government of India in collaboration with the states will make the NIELIT centres in the region as job creation centres adding that the Government of India wishes more companies to start coming into the Northeast region and start hiring directly from there.

Informing that the world today is looking for trained manpower from anywhere it can get and India is poised to become the leading human resource provider to the world's technology requirement, he said the technology supply chain of the world sees India as a global provider of services and products.

He further said that the Ministry has implemented some programmes relating to job creation successfully including BPOs, and in that line, is looking to create jobs in the ITs and electronics manufacturing industry.

The Union Minister said more than 5 lacs new jobs have been created in information technology and over 3 lacs jobs in electronic manufacturing alone this year in India.

The day's NIELIT Centre inaugural program was attended by BJP MLA M Rameshwar Singh, DG(NIELIT)Dr Jaideep Kumar Mishra, Deputy Commissioner Pawan Yadav of Churachandpur district and Executive Director(NIELIT)Imphal Th Prameshwar Singh.

Later the visiting Union Minister also interacted with students from all of the five centres through a virtual conference.
