Sikkim starts registering labourers under Sikkim Labour Protection Act, 2005

Gangtok, June 22: The Labour Department, Government of Sikkim has started the process of registration of individual labourers/workers as well as those working in organized and unorganised sectors in the State.

The registration process commenced on Monday at C.S. Rai Government Secondary School, Arithang, here in the capital.

After the passing of Sikkim Labour (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Bill, 2021 by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly during the recent Budget Session, the Labour Department has expedited the process to start registration throughout the State.

It may be reminded that a Task Force has been constituted in each Municipality Ward and each Panchayat Ward under the Sikkim Labour Protection Act, 2005 for the purpose of detailed data collection of unorganised/individual workers and their registration
