Imphal, Sep 4: One of India's largest membership based organisations of specialized professionals - Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI) will be felicitating the country's 20 top medical teachers cum practitioners including Prof (Dr) A Santa Singh of Manipur during its Teachers day observation on Sunday.
Prof (Dr) Santa Singh who is currently the Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), a premier medical institute in Imphal, is the only medical college in entire Northeast and West Bengal to figure amongst the top 40 medical Institutions & Universities of India, received a congratulatory letter from FOGSI in this regard.
Prof (Dr)Santa, the former director of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences,Shillong is also presently Governing Body member of National Health Systems Resource Center and Executive member of National Sports University.He is the recipient of the Manipal Education and Medical Group's Excellence award and IIM Shillong Most valuable Resource Person.
In the letter, FOGSI's president Dr S Shantha Kumari and its secretary general Dr Madhuri Patel said that FOGSI is happy to celebrate and felicitate the medical teachers for their diligent work and devotion in teaching and spreading knowledge making the impact on clinical practice. "We are privileged to honour you on this day for the exemplary work by you for the medical community as a teacher," it said.
Meanwhile reacting to the letter, Prof(Dr) Santa, the former director of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences and Governing body member of National Health Systems Resource Center said, it is a proud moment for Northeast.
He also felt that it is an honour that the largest Obstetrician & Gynecologist body in the world has chosen him as one of good teachers to be felicitated on Teachers Day this year along with stalwarts of Obstetrician & Gynecologists.
The other top practitioner of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the country to be felicitated during the occasion are Dr Kamal Bukshee, Dr Veena Acharya, Dr Raj Baweja, Dr Lakhbir Dhaliwal, Dr CN Purandare, Dr Rohit Bhatt, Dr SN Daftary, Dr Shrish Seth, Dr Vilas M Mehta, Dr A Debdass, Dr Biman Chakraborty, Dr Manju Gita Mishra, Dr P Rajaram, Dr Belamba O, Dr Indira Devi, Dr PK Shekhran, Dr BR Desai and Dr Pratap Kumar.
